I have been using Twitter for a little over 2.5 years now (I registered the account a little over 3 years ago). For a little over 2 years I have been using it heavily to promote the posts on this blog. Twitter is my most important traffic channel, generating between 50-70% of visits. Google is still a less important channel, although it also accounts for 25%. Depending on the success of the daily post, I usually get around 1,500-3,000 visits a day.
Promoting the blog with Twitter
One of the first posts on this blog already deals with this topic from a similar angle. I wanted to find out the relationship between the number of followers and the number of clicks per tweet. What influences the CTR on Twitter is not only the time and whether you have an “influential” account or other criteria. Since the first post I have learned some additional “tricks”.
The “classics” to increase the number of clicks on Twitter
You have probably already read some post (even on this blog) that has already dealt with the subject. Let’s start with a summary of the most effective tips:
Ask for retweets: this is belize phone number library probably the oldest “trick”. Don’t overuse it since you are going to ask for effectiveness. Ask for it only when you need it. It is a wild card that you cannot use very often. Personally I almost never do it.
Optimize the title creating memorable headlines
On Twitter is 80% of the success of a post. If you fail with the first version, take advantage to change it and launch the post with like the other international search engines a new tweet.
Launch the tweet at 11 at night: in atb directory Spain it is the best time since many people have finished dinner and are relaxing with their iPhone or iPad “watching” TV and checking Twitter.
Mention people with “@”: when you direct a post to one or several people you can ensure at least the clicks of the people you are addressing. Don’t overuse this tactic as you could quickly become a spammer.ini for dinner and if you try hard, you get it. bro can’t
Putting a link at the beginning: I recently read in a post (whose link I can’t find anymore) that putting the link at the beginning statistically increased the CTR on Twitter. It seems logical but I don’t do it as it seems a bit “cheesy” to me.
What works best for me to increase
The above points can be considered as the basic tools to increase the CTR on Twitter. Over the last 2 years I have been trying new things and I have discovered that the following techniques can give very good results:
Announcing the post in advance: if you have been following me on Twitter for a while you already know that I usually announce all my posts between 9-11 pm with a tweet (“At 00:01 on the blog…”). Announcing the entry creates expectations and many people even stay up longer to read the post (something that still surprises me a lot).
Choosing the post based on the popular vote: when I’m not feeling very inspired I ask on Twitter what topic to write about. Sometimes I put 2 alternatives to vote on or even start from scratch. What was initially only intended to help me generate new ideas for posts, turns out to be a good way to increase the CTR on Twitter.
