Sooner or later I had to write this post. It’s not just because of my challenge to publish a post a day during 2012. Content marketing is not an online invention, since it already existed before the Internet was born. Twenty years ago it was a much bigger investment than it is today. Just think of the costs behind the Pirelli Calendar or the Michelin Guide, which are two of the best-known examples of offline content marketing.
Start-ups and blogs
You’re not going to have a branding like the two companies mentioned above overnight, but launching a blog can have an impact. Creating posts is a quick (but not easy) way to get started with content marketing.
It’s not easy to create a blog and not give up after the first week. If it were, everyone would be doing it and in the end it wouldn’t help you stand out. Before we start, let’s talk about the 3 types of blogs you can choose from:
CEO blog: as the name suggests, this is a blog written by the CEO or one of the founders of the startup. It is a personal blog that serves to share information about product development and other news from the sector in which the company operates. A good example is Carlos Blanco’s blog.
Corporate blog: this type of blog is directly related to the company. It typically has the colors and logo of the startup and is found under “yourstartup.es/blog” or “blog.startup.es”. Community blog
A good way to attract your target audience is through a community blog. You share value-added content but without giving it the appearance of a corporate blog. 3. Get contacts from potential investors: investors and business angels are very connected to what is happening on the web. For their work, it is essential to be well informed about new start-ups that may have a high growth potential.
4. Attract new clients and users: It’s good to position yourself and build branding through blogging. In the end, it’s the numbers that count. A blog will also help you increase your income, although this won’t happen in the first few days.
