More than one in two Swiss are ready to support the restaurant sector by paying 5% more

Despite the ongoing lockdown, optimism is starting to be felt in the restaurant sector as the vaccination campaign progresses in Europe. While in our previous survey, we ask the Swiss to see if their dining habits had chang as the holidays approach , in our latest survey, we focus on their expectations once restaurants reopen.

We survey more than 200 Swiss people in January 2021.

Swiss want to ensure survival of local restaurants
When ask what the restaurant sector will reputation management: tools, methods and strategies look like in 2021, the Swiss survey are generally pessimistic: 46% of them expect that small restaurants will not survive the crisis .

Similar sentiments are found in Germany (62%), Belgium (39%), Austria (47%) and France (39%). Only our Dutch neighbours are more positive; only 29% cell p data of them think that small restaurants will not survive. On the other hand, 44% are convinc that small restaurants can survive by adapting, compar to 30% of the Swiss.

So, what measures can be taken to help these local restaurateurs survive?

33% of Swiss people are willing to help the restaurant industry by eating out more often . And that’s not all: a quarter of Swiss people are willing to pay up to 5% more. 20% go further by being willing to pay up to 10% more, and 10% would agree to pay at least 10% more. Another result highlighting. Yhe generosity of the Swiss towards this sector: just over a quarter (27%) are also willing to leave higher tips.
